🏰 Khilashapur Fort

Khilashapur Fort is one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Jangaon District, Telangana. Built around 1690 CE by the legendary warrior Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud, the fort served as the capital of his kingdom and stands as a symbol of courage, resistance, and Telangana’s rich heritage.

Situated on a hilltop in Khilashapur Village, Raghunathpally Mandal, the fort is known for its massive stone walls, strong bastions, watchtowers, ancient cannons, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It was strategically designed for defense and is believed to contain secret escape tunnels used during times of conflict.

Today, Khilashapur Fort is a popular destination for history enthusiasts, photographers, trekkers, and tourists who wish to explore Telangana’s architectural and cultural heritage. 🛕 Palakurthi Temples

The Palakurthi Temples are among the most significant spiritual and historical landmarks in Jangaon District, Telangana. Situated atop a scenic hill in Palakurthi, the temple complex is primarily known for the ancient Sri Someshwara Swamy Temple and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, where the two deities are worshipped in adjacent natural caves. The temples are believed to have a history of over 1,200 years and are associated with the penance of ancient sages, making them an important pilgrimage destination.

Palakurthi is also renowned as the birthplace of the famous 12th-century Telugu poet Palkuriki Somanatha, a prominent scholar of the Veerashaiva tradition. His samadhi (memorial) is located near the temple, adding literary and cultural significance to the site. The hilltop temples, natural rock caves, ancient Surya temple ruins, and peaceful surroundings attract devotees, history enthusiasts, and tourists from across Telangana and neighboring states.

Every year, thousands of devotees visit Palakurthi during Maha Shivaratri and other religious festivals to seek blessings and participate in special rituals. 📖 Bammera Pothana Birthplace

Bammera Village, located in Palakurthy Mandal of Jangaon District, is the birthplace of the renowned Telugu poet Bammera Pothana (1450–1510). He is celebrated for translating the sacred Bhagavata Purana from Sanskrit into Telugu, creating the famous Andhra Maha Bhagavatamu, popularly known as Pothana Bhagavatam. His literary work is regarded as one of the greatest contributions to Telugu literature and continues to inspire generations of readers and scholars.

Pothana was not only a gifted poet but also a humble farmer, earning the title “Sahaja Kavi” (Natural Poet) for his extraordinary poetic talent. Despite his scholarship, he chose a simple life devoted to agriculture and spirituality. His birthplace has become an important cultural and literary landmark, attracting students, researchers, literature enthusiasts, and tourists who wish to learn about his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
